Harper’s BAZAAR · A Step-By-Step Guide To Melanie Grant’s Skincare Routine
With studios in Sydney, Melbourne and Los Angeles, Grant crafts incredible facials and at-home routines for her clientele, including the likes of Hailey Beiber, Nicole Trunfio and Pheobe Tonkin.
But Grant also has amazing skin herself. After all, if you're the best glass skin-giver in business, your own canvas is guaranteed to be in top condition.
BAZAAR recently caught up with Grant to learn more about her at-home routine and how she takes care of her own skin—when not looking after others.
WHAT SEASONAL CHANGES HAVE YOU MADE TO YOUR ROUTINE NOW THAT WE’RE HEADING INTO WINTER?
Like many of us, Grant says her biggest concern in winter is dryness.
“I like to incorporate a face oil and a richer night cream, switch out to oil and milk cleansers, and I love to use an enzyme exfoliating mask two to three times per week to gently slough away dry skin.”
HAVE YOU NOTICED ANY CHANGES IN YOUR SKIN SINCE SELF-ISOLATION?
Having studios in different locations, Grant’s skin is benefiting from the break in flying, but she’s still partial to a little pampering in isolation.
“I’ve been trying to make more of an effort to add quick and simple steps to my evening routine to give my complexion a boost. ie. a longer massage with my gua sha, using my micro current device more often, or a quick mask to hydrate and plump whilst replying to my emails or on a call,” she tells BAZAAR.
“It’s important to have fun with your home treatments. I find the ritual itself is enough to decompress and destress at the end of the day.”

Step 1: Double cleanse
“In the evening I always double cleanse. First with a gentle milk or oil cleanse to break down makeup, SPF, oil, dirt and pollution. For my second cleanse, I use something a little more active with AHAs to dissolve any cellular debris and really deep clean the pores.”
“Most evenings, I use an exfoliating lotion or essence to dissolve any build-up and dead skin. This step also ensures better penetration of my serums, oils and hydrators. I apply the solution on a cotton round and gently sweep over my face, neck and décolletage.”

Step 3: Corrective Serum
“I’m a firm believer in the corrective and regenerative properties of a retinol, and apply a retinol serum each night over my face, neck and décolletage, as well as the back of my hands.”

Step 4: Eye care
“For my eyes I like a rich eye cream, sometimes layered over an eye serum. This step keeps the fine, delicate skin around my eyes nourished, firm and supple, and plumps out any fine lines.”
Grant uses: Royal Fern Phytoactive Anti-Ageing Eye Cream, $275 at Skin Care Edit

Step 5: Moisturise
“To finish I apply a night cream. This is also a great time to give yourself a massage to promote blood flow, release tension and shift stagnant lymph. I use a gua sha tool and work from my neck and shoulders, upwards over my face. I also love to stretch my neck after my massage.”
