Notes On LED Light Therapy At Home

I’ve worked with LED Light Therapy for years, and though I’m well versed in the clinically proven benefits, I’m constantly surprised at the true and palpable results this non-invasive technology delivers. LED are a highly efficacious treatment and a great way to yield professional results at home. Suitable for all skin types and tones, it’s my go-to for promoting a clear, healthy, strong and luminous complexion, treating a myriad concerns from dehydration and dullness, to redness, breakouts and laxity. Not to mention the treatment itself is relaxing, calming, and restorative!

How do LED masks work?
LED masks work by using different coloured lights to penetrate deep into the skin, where they stimulate different responses at a cellular level.

✔️Promotes collagen synthesis

✔️Stimulates elastin

✔️Accelerates wound healing

✔️Boosts hydration

✔️Encourages blood flow and healthy circulation

✔️Softens pigment

✔️Soothes redness, rosacea and dermatitis

✔️Calms blemishes and breakouts

✔️Boosts your mood

…and all without any downtime!

What results can I expect to see and when?
While at-home LED masks are not as powerful as the versions of in-clinic light therapy, regular use can deliver fantastic results and help to reduce acne and excess oil production, boost collagen and elastin, smooth wrinkles and fine lines, even out skin tone, and soothe inflammation and redness. A completely non-invasive beauty treatment, LED masks don’t require any downtime and can actually be used to help heal in-clinic procedures such as chemical peels, microneedling and laser. With this treatment, the more the merrier! Results are cumulative so we often recommend applying your mask after cleansing in the evenings 2-3 x per week for 10-20 minutes for optimal results (but make sure you refer to your specific device’s instructions).

What do the different colours do and which is right for me?
Red light helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and boosts collagen in the skin, while blue can assist with fighting breakout-causing bacteria. Near-infrared light is invisible to the naked eye but fantastic for ageing and damaged skin as it penetrates deeply and kickstarts the repair process.

What should I look for in an LED mask?
While there are cheaper options on the market, when it comes to LED masks you really do get what you pay for. Although the initial outlay can be large, LED masks are a great beauty investment that can be used for many years to come to tackle a wide range of different concerns. I love Dermalux Flex, Déesse Pro Express and Light Salon Boost Mask.
