Apricot Oil
A light, fast-absorbing kernel oil that softens and smooths dry skin, leaving it supple with a natural glow.
apricot kernel oil, Prunus armeniaca kernel oil
Dry & dehydrated skin
What it does
Apricot kernel oil, pressed from the kernels inside apricot stones, smooths and softens the skin, giving a supple texture thanks to its emollient nature. Light and fast-absorbing, it is similar to sweet almond oil and rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids.
How it works
Apricot oil contains vitamin E and other antioxidants, which help protect the skin from free radicals. As an emollient, apricot oil fills the tiny gaps between surface cells and forms a light film that helps lock in hydration. This leaves skin softer and more supple, with a healthy glow.
MG says
A lightweight oil that is seamlessly absorbed, apricot oil makes the skin velvety soft, gives a natural radiance and is often used for massage. It’s best used for those with dry skin. Don’t confuse the oil with scrubs made from ground apricot stones: these are too abrasive for sensitive skin and are best avoided.
Cautions
Generally well tolerated. Apricot kernel oil is closely related to almond oil, so if you are allergic to almonds or stone-fruit kernels, patch test first.
