Argan Oil
A nourishing kernel oil, rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, that softens, protects and supports the barrier of dry skin.
Argania spinosa kernel oil, argan kernel oil
Dry & dehydrated skin · Ageing skin · Dull skin · Barrier support
What it does
Argan oil has been well known for its haircare benefits for some time, but this much-loved ingredient works beautifully on the skin, too. Pressed from the kernels of argan trees native to North Africa, argan oil helps protect and soften the skin, delivering a cocktail of moisturising fatty acids and vitamin E.
How it works
Despite being an oil, argan oil is light enough for most skin types, though very oily or blemish-prone skin may prefer lighter oils such as jojoba, grapeseed or squalane. Rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids, vitamin E and other antioxidants, argan oil can help fight free radicals and support the skin’s own barrier, meaning it can help soften and protect at the same time.
MG says
Argan is one of the protective oils in Augustinus Bader The Face Oil, which I reach for whenever my skin looks devitalised or lacklustre, and which we often use in the treatment room as a massage medium or finishing product in our facial protocols. A true multitasker, pure argan oil can also be used as a primer for a luminous glow under foundation, on dry ends to nourish hair or on dry, cracked cuticles.
Cautions
Generally well tolerated. Very oily or blemish-prone skin may find it too rich; patch test if your skin is reactive.
