    What it does

Beta glucans are fantastic for calming and comforting the skin, and can help soften the look of redness. Perfect for sensitive skin, beta glucans are sugars found in oats, barley, yeast and mushrooms, and in skincare they provide an effective way to soothe, hydrate and protect sensitive skin.

    How it works

Beta glucans have antioxidant properties and can help protect against oxidative stress. Plus, as humectants they draw water into the skin and form a light, moisture-holding film, while their soothing properties help calm the look of redness in sensitised skin.

    MG says

Layer a beta-glucan serum beneath a rich moisturiser, alongside hyaluronic or polyglutamic acid, when skin needs intensive hydration, as it often does from your 40s on. Beta glucan is especially useful for soothing and calming the skin when used in conjunction with retinoids.

    Cautions

Very well tolerated. If you have an oat or yeast allergy, check the source and patch test first.
