    What it does

Green tea extract is a rich source of antioxidants. It is commonly used in anti-ageing formulas to help soften and smooth skin while offering protection from free radicals. Its natural caffeine and soothing polyphenols can help reduce the appearance of puffiness, particularly in the delicate eye area, while helping to defend the skin against environmental stressors.

    How it works

Green tea contains high levels of antioxidants called ‘catechins’, chiefly EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which help neutralise free radicals and leave skin looking and feeling healthy. Its soothing properties also help calm the look of redness, which is why it is so often found in formulas for sensitive skin.

    MG says

Green tea extract is one I look for in calming formulas for sensitive and redness-prone skin, and in a morning antioxidant serum alongside vitamin C, vitamin E and ferulic acid.
