Resveratrol

A plant polyphenol antioxidant that helps defend skin against pollution and oxidative stress and softens the look of lines.

What it does

This plant-derived extract is one of nature's best defenders. Resveratrol is made by plants such as grapes and Japanese knotweed in response to stressors from environmental aggressors, and when applied topically it can help promote the appearance of a smooth, youthful-looking complexion.

How it works

A polyphenolic antioxidant, resveratrol finds free radicals and helps limit the creation of new ones, a clever defence against external pollutants and UV-induced oxidative stress alongside daily SPF. When used regularly, resveratrol can help reduce the appearance of lines and support the skin's firmness.

MG says

An antioxidant serum with resveratrol is a good evening partner to your retinoid, used alongside it or on alternate nights, while vitamin C takes the morning. For a lighter option, Eighth Day The Reparative Moisturiser includes resveratrol and plays well when layered with serums and makeup.

Cautions

Resveratrol is generally well tolerated. It can degrade in light and air, so choose opaque, airtight packaging, and patch test first if your skin is reactive.
