This is a how-to piece from Us Weekly's Stylish section, published by US Magazine in April 2020. Melanie Grant, described as the Sydney-based facialist who is Chanel's skincare expert, filmed a set of videos showing readers how to give themselves a facial at home. She shot them in her own bathroom, and her opening point is that a DIY facial doesn't need a hundred products or a complicated routine.
She suggests looking in the pantry first. Honey makes a nourishing mask, and coffee grounds mixed with jojoba oil make an exfoliant. Her night-time facial then starts with Cosmedix Purity Clean Exfoliating Cleanser, massaged in circles and removed with a warm, damp cloth. “I like this because it has 5 percent lactic acid and peppermint oil,” she says. For a deeper cleanse she recommends Chanel Sublimage Les Grains de Vanille, though here she goes straight to the Odacité Bioactive Rose Gommage, applied in a thin layer and left for five to ten minutes before she wipes it off.
The massage comes next. She blends Vintner's Daughter serum with Odacité Camelina Chamomile Serum and works it in with circular movements to stimulate blood flow, which the article says can help skin look more sculpted. She finishes with Chanel Hydra Beauty Camellia Repair Mask, left on overnight to hydrate and nourish.
