This is a beauty feature from the July/August 2023 issue of Vogue Germany. Writer Philipp Wehsack had a facial with Melanie Grant while she was in Munich, and used it to open a piece on the part of skincare he thinks people neglect most: the body.
The magazine introduces her as the Australian with studios in London, Paris, Los Angeles, Sydney and Melbourne, and notes that Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett rely on her facial massage before red-carpet events. Her main point is that care should not stop at the jaw. Serums and creams should go down to the chest, and that area should be cleansed properly too. On the body, she says, how skin feels and functions matters as much as how it looks, and an intact barrier comes first.
She keeps body care simple. “It isn't about using a thousand products, it's much more about consistency,” Grant tells the magazine. She dry brushes every day before her shower to clear dead skin and help circulation and lymph flow. She uses a body oil in winter and something lighter in warmer months, applied in the evening. Unless someone is treating acne or pigmentation, she prefers classic formulas with essential fatty acids, hyaluronic acid, squalane, ceramides and peptides, plus vitamin C for brightness and calendula for calming in cooler months. For body breakouts she suggests seeing a dermatologist first. She warns against coarse scrubs, loofahs and exfoliating mitts, which can spread bacteria, and ends on daily sunscreen, for the body as much as the face.
