Fractionated Erbium Laser Resurfacing Treatment
Fractionated erbium laser resurfacing for texture, lines and scarring, with less downtime than traditional resurfacing. Sydney and Mayfair studios.

Fractionated Erbium Laser Resurfacing is our most corrective approach to skin resurfacing. It is for people who want significant change in the look of their skin, without the long recovery that traditional resurfacing involves.
The idea is simple. Rather than treating the whole surface at once, the laser works in thousands of microscopic zones and leaves the skin around them untouched. That untouched skin helps the treated areas recover, and the process prompts your skin to make fresh collagen, elastin and new skin cells.
Who it suits
It is best suited to people who want to improve the look of:
- Advanced sun damage and surface hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines and structural wrinkles
- Uneven or coarse texture
- Loss of skin density
- Enlarged pores and shallow scarring, including acne scarring
This is a clinical treatment, so your therapist assesses your skin first. Suitability is confirmed at consultation, and the treatment is customised to your skin and your concerns.
What happens in the room
The Erbium laser works at a wavelength that is readily absorbed by the water in your skin cells. It creates microscopic treatment zones across the dermis, with healthy skin left in between. This fractional method causes an immediate contraction of collagen fibres and switches on the skin's own healing response.
Barrier health matters to us, even in a corrective treatment. So once the laser work is done, your skin receives an infusion of restorative growth factors and lipids. The session finishes with professional LED Light Therapy to soothe the skin as it starts to recover.
Results and aftercare
Over time the aim is skin that looks smoother, denser and more even in tone. Sun damage is visibly softened, lines and wrinkles look smoother, texture is refined and pores and scarring look less obvious.
Be ready for some recovery. Expect redness, swelling and flaking for several days after each session. Plan around that, especially if you have events coming up. Your therapist will give you aftercare guidance for your skin and tell you what to expect as it heals.
Good to know
For the best results, we recommend a bespoke course of 1 to 3 treatments, spaced 6 weeks apart. The exact number depends on your skin and what you want to achieve, and your therapist will help you decide at consultation.
We prefer to do this treatment in the cooler months where possible. It is a good time to start planning if you want to work on sun damage from the summer before.
